Filmmaker Mike Ramsdell, whom I have the honor of working with to publicize his incredible documentary “The Anatomy of Hate: A Dialogue to Hope”, is returning today from a two week trip to the Congo with Jewish World Watch. The JWW On the Ground fact finding team traveled through the war torn region, visiting safe houses where victims of the violence can come for healing.
For anyone who cares about human rights, the participants’ stories, posted on their blog, are must-read messages. Warning: they witnessed and heard tales about some pretty strong stuff, including the rape of children as young as four years old. But that’s an even stronger reason to read, tell others and do what you can to stop this from happening. Photos are posted in a Flickr photo stream.
As soon as Mike hits the ground in the U.S., he’ll prepare for an upcoming screening in Flint, Michigan. Just like the stories from the Congo, Ramsdell’s documentary bears witness to some really strong, negative emotions, showing hate and the outcome of violence. However, he concludes with a message of hope brought about through dialogue.
A heartfelt ‘well done, you’ to Mike and the members of the JWW mission. It’s people like you who will bring about positive social change.
